When I speak about the feminine, I’m referring to the qualities in both men and women. Qualities like; receptivity, vulnerability, grace, silence, self-reflection and connection to the sacred. In a world that rewards outward success and congratulates us on what we accomplish, I often wonder upon what foundations those actions are being accomplished? Because eventually, if your foundations aren’t solid, your house is going to fall.
For example, have you ever tried to pass a test without studying and some excellent teacher actually tests your understanding of the material rather than the memorizing of it? If you don’t have a solid foundation, eventually you’ll be called out.
To me, the feminine principle is undervalued and lacking in contemporary life. We delight in the fresh, masculine principle — the creative, “prakriti”, the courage and ability to do great things. And I love that energy and believe it is also essential.
However, there is a deep need for the quiet, un-manifest force that underlies all of life to emerge and to be acknowledged and accepted as a part of our daily lives. To experience someone beside you whilst keeping space open to receive their presence without judgement is a gift that nourishes the spirit. The silence and power of presence can illuminate the inner world’s workings and it can offer a new perspective on one’s life. There’s no problem solving here, no therapy, no need or desire on the listener’s part to achieve anything except to be present 100%. How many times have you had that in your life?
Feminine awareness of the “how” of life is a key to where I am in my process each day. How I move my hands or body can express my true heart space.
When I see and feel myself as sacred, I am filled with the presence of grace. I become attuned and subtle toward my own feelings. From this place inside myself a more balanced and clear masculine and creative force began to emerge. There is no longer a gap between my feelings and my actions.
To strengthen the feminine aspect in yourself spend 30 seconds with a friend in easy silence. Or try 60 seconds silence with yourself, not doing anything and not thinking. There are so many ways to experience the sacred feminine. Please share any other suggestions you have for strengthening your foundations so that you can soften, connect, release and rise up!
